About awards for successful performance in Deaflympics

Vladimir Putin: …. We already mentioned sports subjects in a binding to 2014 Olympic Games. I would like to mention one more theme.

To us repeatedly, and to me including, Deaf athletes with question that they unlike our members of Olympic and Paralympic teams do not receive any compensation from outside the state for those achievements in sports which they show addressed.

I sign the Order about an establishment of monetary compensation to athletes with Disabilities following the results of performance on 21st Taipei Deaflympics 2009. According to this decision they are equated on compensations both to Olympians, and to Paralympians: 100 Thousand Euro - for Gold medal, 60 Thousand Euro - for Silver medal, 40 Thousand Euro - for Bronze medal.
I think that it will be additional stimulus for achievement of new sports results.
Vitaly Leontyevich (addressing to Vitaly Mutko), is something that you would like to tell on this question in addition.

Vitaly Mutko: First, I would like to thank for such decision. It is valid - one of additional measures of the state support of development of physical training and sports among Persons with Disabilities, in this case – Deaf, and creation of equal conditions for playing sports among Persons with Disabilities.

I can tell that it is really additional measure; it solves questions of such social support. But other measures which to us have very successfully allowed to act now on Deaflympics are accepted some more. It, first of all, is creation of the centre of national teams of the country on adaptive physical training and sports. We have allocated enough rates this year, took the big group of our athletes on the maintenance. I can tell that for us Regions have gone. If two years ago only 15 Regions developed such sport, as Deaf Sports and on adaptive PT, now - already 55 subjects of the Russian Federation. This is the first.

Second. We have made the decision and have opened all our federal centres and bases for training process, and all national teams prepared for Taipei already on modern bases.
Moreover, I consider that next year we will finish centre building in Aleksino, Tula Region. It will be the first such federal centre for preparation of athletes on adaptive PT and sports and for Deaf athletes. There will be about 12 sports. Aleksino is fine centre which, I hope, next year it will be finished.

From such measures I would like to notice that we have increased financing of sports competitions and preparation of athletes, their participation in the international competitions. Practically this year we have allocated about 170 million roubles and about 1 million dollars for participation in the international competitions. It practically increases in financing at 30 %.

And, as consequence, you have already told that Deaflympics have come to the end. It is participated about 2 thousand 700 athletes from 80 countries of the world by 20 sports. Our National Team participated by 17 sports. 560 medals were played. We have won 98 medals. From them are 29 gold, 41 silver and 28 bronze, have established about 11 World Records and have won first place among all national teams of the world. Though the competition there, really, was serious enough.

All these measures, of course, yield the result. Therefore I once again would like you to thank.
